Alakajam! launches a month-long event

Last Friday started the 1st Kajam, a regular event inspired by MiniLDs. The main difference with MiniLDs is that Kajams are actually rated competitions, focused on learning a specific aspect of game development.

For this month, the topic is Game Juice! The goal is to make a small game with the best Game Juice (or Game Feel) as possible.

Schedule

  • Oct. 13th – Nov. 19th: The jam. You have around one month to work on your game and submit your entry! (see also the event rules)
  • Nov. 19th – Nov. 26th: The rating phase. For one week, all entrants will rate how juicy the other games are – and that’s it: no Overall, no Originality ratings, just Juiciness!
  • Nov. 26th: The definitive rankings of the most juicy games are announced :)

Resources

A list of videos and articles on game juice/game feel is available on the announcement post.

Bonus: 1st Alakajam results

Résonance

4 days ago | October 14th, 2017 11:21 am

Originally a Mini Ld 67 game inspired from Sokoban, the early prototype has been revisited and turned into Résonance, a brand new game published on both PC and Android platforms.

I am looking back for feedback so I can improve this one as well as my future projects!

Résonance is a puzzle game where you have to lead a self-moving box toward the shiny goal, using the different elements standing in the level. Sound easy, right? So why not try it by yourself?

You can either download it for Android (click here)

Or PC (click here)

Or just try the demo in your browser (no hard mode, only the 20 first levels)

openjam

Open Jam is a game jam with 🖤. At Open Jam, you build an open-source videogame over the weekend, rate other creators’ games, and compete for a chance to have your game featured at All Things Open, a premier open source conference. We wanted to host a jam that promotes open source games and game creation tools. That’s why we’re teaming up with Opensource.com to bring you Open Jam, a game jam dedicated to doing just that.

How is Open Jam Different?

There are other jams that require the game source to be submitted. What we wanted to do with Open Jam is promote not only open source games, but open source game creation tools as well. This jam encourages use of open source game engines, authoring tools, and platforms, and Creative Common assets, and to link those tools in your submission. Anything open source in your game creation process is encouraged! That is why we are hosted by opensource.com and winners games will be featured All Things Open conference. Open Jam is all about open games and open game development.

Hey, everybody! It’s been a long time since LD #29 (Beneath the Surface), but we’ve always liked our entry, The Legend of the Thunder Fish.  We finally got around to revisiting it over the last two months or so.  We rebuilt the game from the ground up in Unity, keeping the same core gameplay, but building a number of new systems around it.

We’ve just recently published the prototype on Kongregate.  We’re looking for feedback for a possible Steam release – so take a look and let me know what you think.

Play Fantastic Fishing on Kongregate.

And again, hello everybody!
Maybe, of those who participated in the jam in December 2016, remember our entry:

Info post
Entry

We did not abandon the project then and worked actively on it this whole year.
At the moment we have a ready-made foundation for the game, to which we add content.
Not without bugs, of course. )
We hope that by the first quarter of 2018 the game will be available in Steam.
Well, while you can check out this little teaser:

Thanks to everyone who left feedback on our project – you helped us to become better!

Chroma Maze Deluxe – Now Available on iOS and Android!

Chroma Maze Deluxe

preview2

Chroma Maze Deluxe is my newly released game for iOS and Android, where you must swipe through randomly generated mazes to get to the goal as many times within the time limit. The walls of the maze quickly disappear! You can illuminate the path with a double-tap, but doing so also depletes some of your remaining time! Collect power-ups, and try to get to the goal as many times as possible!

Other features include:

  • Unlockable Achievements through Game Center and Google Play
  • High score leaderboard through Game Center and Google Play
  • Unlockable characters – each character plays differently
  • Upgradable power-ups to give you more time and improve your score

Chroma Maze Deluxe is a continuation of my Ludum Dare 31 entry of the same name. Chroma Maze was the first game that I ever made, so this mobile reimagining is very special to me! Please enjoy it!

We are just a few hours away from the 1st Alakajam, a new 48 hour long competition hosted on a dedicated website. This is your last chance to join the launch of this young but enthusiastic community! We’re planning for around 50 entries this week-end, which looks just about the right size to get to know each other, yet big enough for proper competition.

You can still help choose the final theme by ranking the theme top 10. See you there!

Update: The theme is ALCHEMY!

I want to join or make a group for making games

I have made 1 finished game before and am working on a couple other project but I have noticed I usually use free assets so it doesn’t really look original so I wanted to join a group or make a group.

Took some time and had a few bumps along the way, but I finally released Gobbo Train on the Google Play Store. It was a game that began as a Ludum Dare entry 2 years ago when the theme was “You’re the monster”. Give it a gander and let me know what you think!

My mobile game, Chroma Maze Deluxe, will be coming to the App Store and Google Play Store on September 25th. Chroma Maze Deluxe is a re-imagining of my Ludum Dare 31 game of the same name, suited for a mobile experience. Chroma Maze is very special to me because it was the first Ludum Dare, as well as the first game that I ever finished!

Please look forward to more on September 25th. :)

Hey guys! I’ve always been into music as well as game jams, so I decided to make a site like Ludum Dare but for songs! We have week long song writing competitions every other week, they’re really fun, and if you’re interested in getting better at making music, we’d love to have you join in!

Here’s the most recent compo: https://chipscompo.com/compo/18

We also have a pretty fun discord community and you should totally come chat!: https://discord.gg/JsWcBzD

(If you’re seeing this later, we do competitions at least once a week, so there will probably be a new one up on https://chipscompo.com :)

Flipsy Shapes title screen

I’ve finally published the post jam version of my LD35 entry Flipsy Shapes and put it up on the App Store for free with no ads. It’s a short arcade-style shape matching game with ten levels. If you were playing it right now instead of reading this you’d already be on Level 2. Enjoy.
